Reiki Healing Benefits

Experiencing Reiki Healing

Reiki Healing is a very straightforward with a formidable natural energy. The natural energy that Reiki Healing uses can be compared to that of a nurturing and comforting mother. It can also be said that Reiki Healing experience is similar to the feeling of serenity, composure and solitude just like when one walks to a very calm beach or beautiful forest. It is this same energy that makes up the Universe and makes us one with it.

Reiki Healing is a non-invasive restorative touch modality. The healer uses universal energy to transfer and release the negative energies blocking up our unconscious mind. The blockage may be referred to as suppressed emotions which hinder us from being stress-free and having a peace of mind. Based on my experience with just a short amount of healing time, Reiki Healing has brought about internal transformations as well as external changes. Indeed, it is a great experience!

  • Reiki Healing and Depression

    What Is Depression?

Depression can be best explained as a mental or psychological disorder. There is a change in the emotional state to doom and gloom which also affects an individual’s social interaction as well as physical functions. There are various kinds of depression: dysthymic disorder, major depressive disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, seasonal affective disorder, postpartum depression, bipolar disorder, and atypical depression. In this light, medical studies have been led to identify the root cause of depression. One of the most recognized theory that is owed to the pharmaceutical industry states something about the brain’s deficiency of serotonin or what they generally call the chemical imbalance in the brain. This theory was developed when clinical results showed that depressed people have decreased amount of monoamines such as norepinephrine and serotonin. However, this theory has not yet been validated as the reduced monoamines are merely symptoms rather than a cause. A basic explanation is that when people are thinking of negativities and does not involve themselves in activities that give them pleasure, happiness or contentment makes the serotonin level low. Others think that depression is more of a biological disorder just like a virus. J. Griffin & I. Tyrell explained in their book “Human Givens” that the cause of depression is not chemical imbalance nor it is a disease. They further described that depression is a person’s initial reaction to certain emotional reflection. Since there is really no clear and confirmed cause of depression, people accepts the most logical clinical or medical explanation there is.

Depression From A Spiritual And Holistic Viewpoint

The latest figures that show how many people are getting into the depression state is increasingly disturbing with approximately 70 million people who experiences its symptoms which includes but not limited to lack of energy, uselessness, feeling of moroseness, poor attitude toward life, and having a hard time sleeping. These and other signs lead to an individual’s destruction which starts from lacking enthusiasm, having no initiative, and being pessimistic. The outcome of these negativities leads to receiving and sending negative energies physically, emotionally and spiritually. The result of which is that people become ill, getting diseases and suffering from other medical conditions. Other effects may be thoughtless decisions and actions, despair, and irrational behavior. It does sound very alarming and each person must plan an action to lessen the statistics and to avert the increase in numbers. Indeed the solution varies for each depressed person and the ultimate goal is to undo the condition and bring back the natural life that each and every one of us needs. Spiritual factor helps depressed individual to gain positive energy which will help them renew themselves again even with the different roots of depression. As discussed earlier, depression is not a chemical disproportion. It is a symptom and not a cause. With this reality, others consider that it is a state of mind or just is just all in the mind. Depressed people are losing connection to the reality and knowledge of the quality of life – eternity and blissfulness. It is in this premise that medical solution is not a grounded cure in overturning depression completely because it is all about the behavior or attitude of the concerned individuals. To appreciate a more universal view of depression, the following should be considered as factors causing depression: a. Medical Factors – Health or physical factors can set off a person to see a different outlook in life. They would be feeling and thinking unhappy or irrational thoughts and have a decline on the positive disposition about their condition. Weak nervous system, improper diet or hormonal imbalance can hinder one’s positive outlook in life. b. External Factors – Traumatic experience, social status, and sometimes culture and even the weather can put people in a state of depression. Some individuals get melancholy when it’s raining or when it gets cloudy. c. Psychological or Emotional Factors – There are people who can’t get over a situation or a fault that causes them to be depressed. The guilt and wrongdoings are keeping them from the negative attitude. Such people together with those who are in the wrong group of people, carries grudges, feeling jealousy and envy will most likely be in the state of depression.

Holistic Healing with Reiki Healing May Heal the Root of The Issue

Harold Koenig, MD of the Duke University Medical Center validates that the holistic healing and spiritual force factors take a big part in how the patients cope with depression. In the 2002 American Psychiatric Association annual meeting, there were presented studies that show that spiritual/religion approach delivers a much improved result. The presentation gave light to another view on spiritual support. This gives then the importance on how one should pay interest to the spiritual practices and belief of a depressed patient in order to find the right cause and hence the right solution. While spiritual support is not the one–stop shop for depression, it still plays a key role in reducing the degree and hopefully turning the person into a better human being. The following are spiritual guides on how we can help a depressed person: Identify the root cause of the problem – What is the real cause? One should contemplate on the matter. It doesn’t take overnight which is why it would be easier if you write your thoughts and ask someone close to you to help you out. Provide the right solution to the real cause – Once identified then one can find out the right solution. If the cause is physical or health-related then visit the doctor and treat the pain that causes the depression. Strengthen the nervous system, exercise, and have a balanced diet. Relaxation or regular prayer can also provide and enhance positive energy that will give the person an invigorating and refreshing mental and physical strength overpowering depression. In terms of emotional, external or psychological causes, one should pay attention and keep away from undesirable habits. Lead a life with purity, righteousness, and simplicity by keeping yourself with the right group of people who has positive and good values, positive views in life, and is spiritually inclined.
